I found no useful comparisons between this and the standard DT running ultrathin so I bought both. The Element is built up to be a little more rugged in common wear spots. The weave patterns are different, padding slightly thicker, and the material is just a touch more substantial. The overall fit and padding placement are the same. I prefer the standard runner in my nicer running shoes as they don't require the extra protection. But, I'll be using the Element for hiking, gym, and in shoes that are rubbing. Hope that helps.

I may be mistaken. Regardless….SockGeek in general? An EASY 5 Stars…once I placed my order, I was amazed how quickly my socks arrived….only 3 days!! I’ve been wearing Darn Tough brand socks, since my early days as a Federal Wildlife Law Enforcement Officer. That job often required me getting wet….all seasons…Darn Tough met the challenge! Now fully retired from both the U.S. Navy and U.S. Fish&Wildlife Service, I still wear Darn Tough….year round. In the warmer months, I really like their “tabbed ankle” socks for hiking, biking, hiking. Darn Tough? Inaccurate name….they should be called King Tough, because F**king Tough is impolite!
